Senior Backend Software Engineer at ANS Group

I was head hunted by ANS Group who I had previously worked for to be the engineer to build and maintain the entire backend for their new real-time service management portal Glass. This portal is the front door to the business and gives customers a completely transparent, single view of all service transactions to enhance the customer experience at ANS. It's my responsibility to build and maintain the backend GraphQL federated API's which provide the data and functionality for Glass, making sure they are efficient and robust enough to provide data with low latency and scale to handle the demand coming from the thousands of ANS customers.

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer at Mercarto

At Mercarto I was responsible for many areas across their whole platform. One of the main features I worked on was the PayPal integration into their checkout which would allow users to checkout with PayPal. I built both the backend API and frontend payment flow which made this whole feature possible. I also worked on the PLT Marketplace app that Mercarto built for PrettyLittleThing. I worked on the authentication from a frontend perspective managing authentication tokens and sessions and helped to enhance/fix some of the features half built by some contractors.

I worked in the "App Dev" team and was responsible for building and taking ownership of the backend stack for multiple bespoke client projects. I designed and built the backend API's which interacted with different databases and systems which would provide data for the frontend app. Being a senior engineer I also delegated work to other engineers on my team providing support for them where needed, and conducted PR code reviews to ensure any code merged met the standard for the project.

I worked in the "App Dev" team and my responsibility was to help build backend API's for bespoke client projects and assist members of my team where I could. This was my first software engineering role in a properly structured dev team which allowed me to demonstrate my skills and ability to work efficiently and autonomously.

Junior Software Engineer at ANS Group

After completing my software development diploma I was promoted from Apprentice to Junior where I worked in a dedicated team to work on proof of concept projects for the business which could later be turned into production ready applications to sell to customers. One of these projects was a smart parking application which was built using Python, a Raspberry Pi, a webcam and an image classification AI model to determine if a car parking space was vacant or occupied. This was an extremely cool project to work on and show off to the business. Working in this team was a great learning experience and allowed me to be hands on with many different technologies without having to worry about the complexities of it being production ready.

Achieved my AWS DevOps Professional certification

To help ANS Group further with becoming an AWS partner, after passing my first AWS certification, I was asked to work towards the AWS DevOps Professional certification which required me to take an exam. I passed the exam and achieved the certification.

To help ANS Group with becoming an AWS partner, I was asked to work towards the AWS Developer Associate certification which required me to take an exam. I passed the exam and achieved the certification.

Completed my Level 3 Software Development Diploma at ANS Group

I finally completed my Level 3 Software Development diploma with a triple distinction star grade which was a massive achievement.
